The Wexford Carol

This traditional Irish carol dates from the 11th or 12th century.  Like much music from the middle ages, the history is uncertain.  The song has had a revival of sorts over the past 10 years or so.  It has been recorded by "Irish revival" musicians: Anuna, Celtic Woman, and the Chieftans, by classical artists: The Cambridge Choir, John Rutter, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and even by popular artists: Michael McDonald and Marit Larsen.

I am partial to this beautiful cover by Allison Krauss and Yo Yo Ma.
