Worship is ultimately our response to Christ's redemptive act on the cross. And so all of our worship should be anchored in the person and work of Jesus. Hebrews call Him our "great high priest," who "offered himself unblemished before God." In his book, "Worship, Community and the Triune God of Grace," James B. Torrence says it like this:
The real agent in worship, in a New Testament understanding, is Jesus Christ, who leads us in our praises and prayers, "the one true minister of the sanctuary."...He is the high priest who, by his one offering of himself on the cross, leads us into the Holy of Holies, the holy presence of the Father, in holy communion.Jesus comes as our brother to be our great high priest, to carry on his loving heart the joys, the sorrows, the prayers, the conflicts of all his creatures, to reconcile all things to God, and to intercede for all nations as our eternal mediator and advocate.
In giving glory to the Son, we join with the Father. The Triune God glorifies Himself.
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. John 17:1
In what ways do you give glory and honor to Jesus, the Son?
